This is the vision of the Vancouver National Historic Reserve,
and the force behind its outstanding educational programs that
bring learning to life in a new, creative and intriguing way.
The Reserve’s sites offer a variety of programs for grades
K-12 that meet curriculum standards in Washington and Oregon.
The programs provide across-the-curriculum experiences that offer
hands-on learning while celebrating the rich history and natural
environment that our region has to offer. Students visiting the
sites are taught about the fur trade, early military life, pioneers
in aviation and natural history all in the context of the area’s
role in regional and national development.
Whether you are considering a field trip or are already in the
process of planning one, we encourage you to search the resource
materials located in this guide to decide which programs are most
relevant and meaningful for your students.
Current programs are outlined by site along with curriculum charts
indicating the key curriculum components met by each program.
At any point in the planning process please contact our sites
with any questions or for additional information. Our education
program or scheduling coordinators will work with you to ensure
your visit covers the topics and curriculum that meets the needs
of your group.
